Improved pen tool

Jitter now lets you create advanced custom shapes made up of multiple parts and holes. You can build (or import from Figma) compound shapes with multiple paths, including inner cutouts: perfect for detailed icons, illustrations, and more intricate morph animations.

Here’s how to get started with the improved pen tool:

  1. Select the pen tool in the top toolbar.
  2. Click to add points and draw your first path. Drag to reposition points, or drag and hold (Ctrl on Windows) to create curves.
  3. Add more paths to build extra parts or holes inside the same shape.
  4. Finish drawing to combine everything into a single editable shape.
  5. Animate it like any other shape in Jitter (including morphing).

Other improvements

  • Timeline panning: In addition to scrolling, you can now click and drag to move through the timeline.
  • Accented letters: You can now add accented characters directly from the tooltip when editing text.
  • Improved distance guides: Distance lines and badges now stay within the viewport so they're easier to read while editing.
  • Layer order shortcuts: You can now use keyboard shortcuts to reorder layers: ] to bring to front, [ to send to back, ⇧ ⌘ ] to bring forward , and ⇧ ⌘ [ to send backward.
  • Batch missing font replacement: If you manually replace one missing font in Jitter, we'll also update other text layers that use the same font in batch.
