Custom easings

In addition to using ready-made easing presets, you can now define your own easing curves to get the exact motion you want. With custom easings, you can fine-tune how objects accelerate and decelerate and:

  • Create smoother, snappier, or more dynamic movement that feels just right for every animation.
  • Build and reuse your own easings to keep all your animations on-brand.

Here's how you can create a custom easing in Jitter:

  1. Select a layer you'd like to animate, make sure you're in the Animate tab, and click on New Animation.
  2. Select the type animation you'd like to use (or build a custom one).
  3. Click on the value next to Easing in the Animation section.
  4. Select Custom.
  5. Adjust the handles in the graph or the values below it to create your custom easing.

The handle on the left controls how your object will start moving. The flatter the curve is here, the smoother the acceleration; the steeper it gets, the more abrupt the start of the movement. The handle on the right controls how the movement will end. The more horizontal the line is, the more it’ll slow down to land smoothly in its final position; the more vertical it becomes, the snappier the end of the animation.
